Help us come closer to finding a cure for blood cancers. For 14 years, the ABC7 Jim Gibbons 5K Run, 3K Walk & Survivors' Strut has proven itself as a landmark event in the Chicagoland area and is a major fundraiser for the Leukemia Research Foundation (LRF). Each year on the third Thursday in June, more than 2,500 participants gather along Chicago's downtown lakefront to run, walk and raise funds in search of a cure for leukemia and lymphoma. This CARA-registered event is currently divided into two events: the Men's & Women's 5K Run and a non-competitive 3K Walk/Survivors' Strut. A post-event party immediately follows the run/walk. Participants enjoy food, refreshments and live music, and have the opportunity to visit the many partnership tents on the event site. An awards ceremony begins at 7:30 where the top three male and female runners are awarded cash prizes.  Schedule - Thursday, June 19, 2008
